Dear Friends,
This week has been a week of loss and of gain. We lose Tim to Ranger School for hopefully only 3 months. You can keep him in your prayers...he will face a lot of challenges in the weeks ahead. However, we also gain Eric to the house. He is fresh back from deployment and it is great to have him back. This weekend I have already gone to Crystal Mountain and skied with a few friends. It is absolutely beautiful up there. I still have a lot of that mountain to explore. It was HUGE!
Anyway, the rest of the weekend should be relaxing as I finally catch up on a lot of stuff that I've been pushing to the back burner. A lot of the guys from Bible Study are gone to New York this weekend too for a conference. It should be pretty quiet here in Washington. I'm looking forward to it. Bye!

Parents Visit and Shooting Some More...

Dear Friends,
The last 2 weeks...in fact the last month has flown by quickly. Work keeps me busy and the rumor mill is running wild with deployments, Obama, and Afghanistan/Iraq. My mortar platoon, however, just keeps shooting. There's not much we can do besides train. Life outside of the Army is still going well too. The Bible Study is great. We keep getting new guys coming out, and I continue to see a need for guys like us sharing Jesus with soldiers at Fort Lewis. It's hard to balance all the activities of life, but I'm getting better at staying true to my priorities.
Anyway, my parents are here this weekend, and we have had a cookout, shot handguns, toured Fort Lewis, and explored some of the local Parks and Nature Reserves. They leave tomorrow, but it has been a good stay. I'll write again soon...this next weekend should be fun (4-day holiday).
