End of An Era...So Much To Tell

Dear Friends,

This past week has been a busy one. My platoon finally got out of the field after our evaluations. They did great and we got recognized for the accomplishments. We have a long way to go before deployment, but it is encouraging to see the rapid improvement with the guys. In order to reward myself Luke, his friend Mike, and I went skiing one last time this year on Friday. The conditions were foggy, but the snow was soft which made for a good day. We came home and enjoyed a huge steak dinner at Outback. That restaurant has kinda become our "spot". Tim Frazier also passed Mountain Phase of Ranger School on Friday and will be graduating hopefully in 3 weeks. It will be good to have him back. He has been sorely missed. Our chapel closed today after its final service due to a lack of chaplain support with the coming deployments. Bible Study continues to go well though. We are coming and going a lot ourselves, but it is exciting to see God working here at Lewis with the young Soldiers. My main prayer is for God to continue to push me to growth along with the guys I'm living with (II Peter 3:18).

Anyway, I had to work yesterday pulling staff duty, but I still have tomorrow off as part of the Easter 4-day weekend. I'm gonna go ahead and do a whole bunch of chores which I have been putting off for the last month: pick up dry cleaning, pack up some extra stuff into storage, etc. There won't be much down time left here in a couple months.

Into the Box...So to Speak

Dear Friends,

Today I am going "into the box" for my Platoon's evaluations. It will be 48-72 hours of continuous operations with a focus on the current situation overseas and the problems the Army is facing there. It should be exhausting but a lot of fun. I'm not really even sure where this last week went...we were in the field training up for this event for 5 days. Now we're going out again for 3 days. I'd appreciate prayer for my own performance as well as my platoon's. We've only been training on these things for about a month, and it seems like we're behind the general power curve. We'll do our best.

Things at the house apparently are going well. I haven't been around for a week, but I got word that the Bible Studies were going well. Life is getting crazy busy with a deployment on the horizon, but at least I'm having fun! God continues to be good...He always is. I'll write again soon.
