Still In Michigan...

Dear Friends,

Well, today my parents are coming up to see Kate and I in Michigan. It should be a good time as we have both sides of the family together for a couple dates. So far Kate and I have really just been enjoying the Christmas season and getting in some wedding planning when we have the time. We did our wedding "tasting" yesterday which was pretty cool. We were able to sample some great food and finally actually see, in person, the place where we will be getting married. It's a great venue with the wedding ceremony, dinner reception, and guest rooms all within a few hundred feet of each other. It takes some effort to get there, but once everyone is there it should be great. We're looking forward to the convenience as well as the beautiful setting. The wedding will be small, but it should still be a pretty rockin' party.

What else? There really hasn't been a lot of other "events" in the past week other than meeting plenty of Kate's old friends as well as hanging out with family. We are being well-fed and well taken care of by Kate's parents. They live right on the water (which now is covered with ice). It's basically a resort home with the view and incredible setting. Anyway, Michigan is obviously incredibly cold, but we are beating it with warm homes and lots of relaxing! This Christmas vacation has been exactly what both Kate and I needed. I'll write again soon. Bye!

Dear Friends,

Wow! I can't believe that the last post I made was when Kate and I got engaged. That was over two months ago. Let's just say that a lot has happened since then. Kate and I traveled to Chicago for a week to visit friends and family back in late October. It was a short trip, but it was incredibly relaxing. I took on a new job at work when I returned, and it has been incredibly busy ever since. We are getting back in the swing of things, and although I at times miss all the time off, it is good to feel purposeful again at work.

Kate and I have also gone full blown into wedding planning, and we now are in Michigan for the holidays where we are enjoying time with Kate's family and also finishing some of the wedding planning. The snow is out in force here, and it has already snowed twice since we arrived...big flakes that nearly fill up the air as they fall.

Despite having to do a lot with planning for our wedding, Kate and I are still managing to enjoy this rare extended period of time together. It is a nice taste before we go for 4 more months of the medium-distance relationship back in Washington. God continues to teach us a lot through our time together, and we both feel incredibly blessed this year. We are actually off to a Christmas party tonight at one of Kate's family friends. It gives us both an excuse to get dressed up and enjoy the holiday season.

Anyway, I promise to do better and not go as long without updating this blog in the future. I hope that the large number of photos in this post make up for my absence. Merry Christmas, and I hope that the New Year treats you well!
